Plan A Visit
We are a place of sanctuary, hope and action. We are a family of people who humbly seek to be closer to God. When you come to worship with us, you will experience no claims of perfection and no gatekeepers of God’s grace.
Each one of us makes our mistakes and asks God’s forgiveness. We seek to know God’s love in our lives and to have that love overflow us and spill out into the streets of Laurel and beyond, where there is a world of hurt and emptiness waiting to be filled.
Our worship services last approximately one hour and stream live on our YouTube channel on Sundays at 9am or in-person at 9am & 10:45am. Our 9am service is a traditional service, while our 10:45am service is a contemporary service. Each service includes music, a children’s sermon, joys and concerns, a message, and a parting blessing (to name a few key aspects). We hope to see you this Sunday!
Children & Teens
On most Sundays, as a part of our worship service, there is a children’s sermon. Children are welcome to attend Sunday School during the 9am service. Childcare is available during both services year round, for infants through second graders (Please contact Donna if childcare is needed). Children are always welcome to stay with their caregivers in worship. All volunteers and employees that work with our children are screened, trained, and supervised.
Teens are welcome to join in our excellent youth program that starts at 9am in the youth room each Sunday.
Food & Fellowship
After the 9 am service and before the 10:45 am service, we have coffee and food available to promote gathering together in our fellowship hall. As part of our commitment to inclusion, we also have a dedicated allergen free table with food offerings. We call this time “Together at Ten.” We also have our welcome team available in the fellowship hall during this time. They would love to answer your questions!
Emmanuel UMC is committed to being an inclusive and welcoming faith community for all, including people with disabilities or differing abilities. At Emmanuel, we offer a sign language interpreter during the 9am service. Some of the ways we are committed to accessibility includes:
- Assistive listening devices
- Large print materials
- Sign language interpreter
- Greeters and volunteers to assist with seating
- An elevator for better accessibility
- Accessible, gender inclusive restroom with changing table
- Captions on our livestream
- Periodic sign language classes
- Promotion of disability awareness observances or campaigns (e.g. Disability Awareness Sunday)
For accessibility accommodations or concerns, please contact the disability ministries coordinator, Rev. Leo Yates.
The community risk for Howard County is low again. Masks are welcomed but not required at Emmanuel.
Parking & Entry
You are welcome to park anywhere. Most people enter through entrance #2. Disability parking and access is also available via entrance #2 & #4 on the map.
