Worship at Emmanuel -- Sacramental Events
- Baptism
- Baptism proclaims to all that God has adopted us by grace that is
freely available in the world. Baptism is also our proclamation to God
through the promises that we make in our baptism (for youth or adults)
or that our parents make on our behalf (for children). In the United
Methodist Church baptism are only done in the context of a regularly
scheduled worship service because the congregation takes vows to teach
the baptized about the Christian faith and to confirm and strengthen
the baptized in love. Contact Rev.
Stephanie Vader to schedule a Baptism at Emmanuel.
- Confirmation
- In Confirmation we make a mature commitment to Christ. All eighth
grade students are invited to join Emmanuel UMC. The process begins
in October and concludes in April. The confirmands learn
about the church's history, do mission projects, study the Bible and
learn about being a disciple. During this journey, parents, mentors
and church leaders form a partnership with the students to share their
faith as well as provide examples of faith in action. Contact

- Communion
- Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month at
both our 9am and 10:30am worship services. Holy Communion, which is
also commonly called the Lord's Supper, is a Christian adaptation of Jewish
worship at family meal tables. Jesus and his disciples ate together during
his preaching and teaching ministry sharing table fellowship and proclaiming
that there is a place for everyone at God's welcome table. Jesus, on the
night before his death transformed the Passover meal and instituted the
Lord's Supper when he proclaimed to all of his followers that whenever they
blessed the cup of God's salvation and broke the bread of heaven, he was
present with them. We celebrate an open table in the United Methodist
Church, all who intend to lead a Christian life, adults and children, those
baptized and not baptized, all are welcome at God's table. We have no
tradition of refusing any who present themselves desiring to receive.
- Home Communion
- Holy Communion is always available for parishioners who cannot attend
services at Emmanuel. Clergy and laity bring communion to the sick and
homebound of our community. Contact Rev.
Stephanie Vader if you wish to receive communion at home.
- Marriages
- Wedding are held at Emmanuel for members and non-members. Those
wanting to have their wedding at Emmanuel should be aware that either
the bride or the groom must be a Christian and that counseling by a clergy
person is required. The first step to planning your wedding at Emmanuel
is to contact our wedding coordinator, Carol
Lewis through the church office or via email.
- Funerals and Memorial Services
- Rev. Stephanie Vader is available to provide pastoral care to those
who are dying, and help parishioners who wish to discuss arrangements
for their own services or services for their loved ones.
